New immigration programs for graduate and essential workers opened

Have you ever dreamed of permanently migrating to Canada for a better life with your family? This dream may seem far fetched and extremely difficult to achieve. You may already be aware that the Canadian immigration system relies on a points system to see if applicants are qualified to enter the country or not. One thing stopping you from trying to immigrate to Canada may be the thinking that you do not meet the requirements and points balance. However, you may be closer to achieving the Canadian dream than you’d think!

If you have studied in Canada or already hold a job here, the IRCC has opened new pathways to help you successfully apply for permanent residency in the country. Over 90,000 slots have been opened for essential workers and graduates of Canadian universities as well as for French-speaking applicants.

New immigration programs for graduates and essential workers

Canada is making it easier for people to file permanent residency applications by opening a number of new pathways for international student graduates, French-speaking individuals, and essential workers who have already secured jobs within Canadian borders.

The new pathways

What are these new pathways? The Canadian government aims to open new slots under three main immigration streams. 20,000 new applications for temporary workers in the health care stream will open up. Also, 30,000 applications for temporary workers in various other selected essential occupations and 40,000 applications for international students who graduated from a Canadian educational institution will be processed.

New immigrants to be welcomed soon

We can expect a huge number of immigrants within 2021 alone. Although as of the time of this writing, there are still stringent lockdown protocols in place that hinder many of these eligible immigrants from flying to Canada.

Given the shift in priorities, the Canadian government has temporarily focused on facilitating the transition to permanent residence for the people who are already residing in the country.

Economic recovery from the pandemic

The country is looking to immigration to help better the situation caused by severe demographic changes. The population has reached an extreme low because of the low birth rate, and accepting new immigrants to become permanent residents of the country is seen as a viable solution to this problem.

At the time of this writing, there have already been numerous applications to these new immigration programs opened by the Canadian government. If you are interested in moving to Canada permanently, it is best that you work with a reliable immigration firm. They will be the most knowledgeable on which pathway will fit you and your family best depending on the number of points you will be able to get.

Since the pandemic still restricts travel to and from Canada, you may not be able to fly into the country just yet. However, do not lose hope. You may still be able to apply using one of the other pathways available. Talking to an immigration specialist will help shed some light on how to apply even while the pandemic is still going on.
